First mentioned in a document in 1492, Gmundner Keramik, based in the town of Gmunden and now the largest ceramics manufacturer in Central Europe, has developed over the years into a true synonym for the best Austrian tableware and thus stands not only for tradition, but above all for a unique love of traditional craftsmanship. Every product that comes out of the Gmundner Keramik Manufaktur is unique – made and painted by hand and as unique as the people who buy it. Unmistakable is the design Grüngeflammt, which today enjoys worldwide fame.

The roots of the family business date back to 1550. At that time, a ladle forge was founded in Ybbsitz in the Mostviertel region of Lower Austria. This developed into a flourishing metalworking business. Today, the 9th generation of the Riess family manages. Susanne Rieß, Dipl. Ing. Julian Riess and Ing. Friedrich Riess, the company.
In 1922, the company started enamelling cookware. In 2001, the company acquired the trademark rights of KELOmat, a traditional Austrian brand for pressure cookers and stainless steel cookware. One is since then the only cookware manufacturer in Austria and exports to more than 35 countries worldwide.
With FSC and PEFC certified woods we underline our high competence in the field of environmental protection and sustainable action. Ultimately, it is up to each customer to make their own personal choice and preference.
The word mark ORGANOID is composed of “organic” – in the sense of natural, unadulterated – and the suffix “-oid” (ancient Greek for similar). Our natural surfaces contain 100% sustainability, authenticity, closeness to nature and untreated natural materials.
By using untreated natural plant parts, which retain most of their original properties in terms of appearance, feel and scent during the production process, they bring nature into interiors and thus refresh positive memories of experiences in nature and the environment.

The use of biogenic, renewable and mineral raw materials is the basis of the company’s philosophy. The extraction of substances from nature that are as gentle as possible for humans and their processing according to the principles of gentle chemistry are the further foundations of the company. Finally, social and environmental responsibility is always the starting point for further development of the successfully practiced AURO model.
